Library and archives

Library

The European Court of Auditors’ Library was established in 1978 to serve the professional needs of the Court’s staff members.

The collection is specialised in audit, accounting, EU law and all EU policy areas corresponding to the audit sectors. It comprises more than 10 000 books and 100 newspaper subscriptions, mainly in English, French and German.

The entire book collection is available online through the Web-OPAC, a special web user interface. An OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) is an electronic library catalogue which facilitates literature searches in a bibliographic database.

The ECA Library is open to staff members of the European Institutions. External users may be admitted on appointment (see Contact for details).

Archives

The European Court of Auditors' archives contain all of the Court's work files (reports and opinions) since it was established in 1977. Under the terms of the contract governing their deposit with the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence, a significant part of these archives (covering the 1977-1991 period) has been transferred to Florence.

The Court makes its historical documents available to the public - especially researchers - as part of its overall transparency and public access to archives policy.

For more details and information about the access policy of the archives of the Court, please consult our “Archives Guide”, available in English and French.
